Friday began lazily as we all recovered from the feast, the beer and the Gibson's Whiskey brought by our Canadian friends. Shana and I attempted to tour around Missoula, but found it quite difficult due to the streets not being square. In fact, they were at angles. And not the same angles. Half the city laid out their streets aligned with due North, and the other half used magnetic north. And many cross streets don't go through.
We made our way back to the compound and assembled for the ride to the Nature Trail. Incredibly, traffic was quite heavy for a Friday afternoon. We were all very happy when we arrived. We were surprised to find instructor Lance Holst waiting for us. Kari and Doug were also there to help keep us safe. After a brief and some practice laps they let us loose. We all had a great time AND kept the shiny side up. Some videos can be found here: http://vholdr.com/node/96014
After tiring ourselves out we headed to Bayern Brewing for some brats and beer. Morto even arranged with the brewmaster to get our first beer free. Here we were greeted with the smiling faces of Pete and Bob. From there we headed downtown Misoula for a good old fashioned pub crawl.
Saturday morning's ride up to Flathead lake was very beautiful. We stopped at The Miracle of America museum in Polson to check out some great motorcycles.
