KEXP radio (90.3 FM) has a show called "Shake the Shack", three hours of rockabilly every Friday night, you can listen to it anytime on line here. Every October, they throw the Rockabilly Ball, three nights of rockabilly bands from all ove r the country, plus a car show on Saturday. Pete and Erik made all three shows, and Deacon and Chris made the car show with them as well. As always, it was a great time, well worth the cost of admission.....Good music, cool cats, pretty kittens, hot rods, and PBR......
Thursday night was surf night, this was the first year they did the surf thing....Great idea. The Mercury Four opened up, followed by King of Hawaii, Frankie and the Poolboys, and Slacktone. Slacktone was the best surf band we had seen, ever. Drummer Dusty Watson just about made the drums a lead instrument....Kick ass. To top it all off, the bands brought 60's style go-go girls. Perfect.
Friday night was more or less the Western swing night, with the Possum Hollow Boys and the Lucky Stars. Deacon made this show along with DaViking and Pete.....Good stuff, but no dancing girls!
Saturday brought the car show at the Shanty Tavern. Erik and Deacon rode down from Mukilteo, and met Chris there. Due to about equal parts stupidity and lack of caring, Viking and Deacon rode right through the show, crowd and all...Got a lot of attention. Pete made it down a little later. Lots of really cool cars, good times just hanging around listening to the music, looking at cars, and basically enjoying the hell out of a nice Saturday afternoon....
Deacons bike was a chick magnet, to our vague surprise....
After the car show, we got some fish and chips at a pub in Ballard, then off to the Tractor for the last night...
Good times, man, good times. Well worth the $30 ticket. Theres a few more pics in the gallery here.
